Christmas Tree Collections volunteers wanted!

We need willing volunteers and vans on 11th, 12th and 13th January to help with our busy Christmas tree recycling collection service across the local area. If you can spare a day (or even a half day) to join our team of supporters to achieve this mission, we would love to hear from you.

Last year, our team of supporters collected 800 Christmas trees from homes throughout Poole, East Dorset and Purbeck, raising over £9,000. With your help we can do even more this year and make an even bigger difference to local people, and their families, living with a life-limiting condition, in our community.

If you can help in any way, please email the fundraising team at christmastree@lewis-manning.org.uk

Spread some cheer and volunteer in the new year!

We have a range of important volunteer roles across our organisation but are particularly looking for patient drivers in Purbeck, receptionists in Poole and Day Hospice volunteers.  Call our team on 01963 400186 if you can help transport our patients to and from our day hospice in Wareham, or call 01202 708470 to explore our other volunteer vacancies!

Staff in the spotlight

We’re proud of our dedicated and committed team and this month we get to meet Physiotherapist, Breathlessness Service, Vicky Gray.

What’s the best thing about your job?

Being able to spend time with my patients and not feel rushed. I’ve spent my whole career feeling time pressures so it has taken some getting used to.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever been given?

‘Less is more’. Having worked on intensive care for a large portion of my career, it takes time and experience to understand and accept that some patients do not need lots and lots of interventions, sometimes they just need additional time to help their bodies heal and get better.

Tell us something about yourself that we wouldn’t know

I enjoy cold water swimming all year round!

Describe yourself in 3 words

Bubbly, kind, generous

If you were going to rule the world for the day, what law would you introduce?

That everyone should have to do a random act of kindness every week. Doesn’t have to be big, just something small to make people smile more.

Your best place for a holiday is?

Morocco, for a yoga retreat.
