The trio behind Wiltshire-based Chickpea Group have acquired The King’s Arms in Shaftesbury, marking their first venture in Dorset.
Dating back to the 17th century, the pub sits in the centre of town, just a short walk from Gold Hill – made famous in the 70s by Ridley Scott’s iconic Hovis advert.
The Chickpea team have been busy working on a full refit, redecorating the space with a deep green and red palette, handmade blinds, tables, chairs and soft furnishings.
They’re also overhauling the games area into a pop-up concept which could house seasonal performers and retailers.
“The King’s Arms has all the characteristics of a great pub – a roaring fire, long bar and plenty of space,” said Ethan Davids, who set up Chickpea alongside sister Jordan and friend Tommy Tullis.
“We think our model will work nicely there, and we’re looking forward to swinging the doors back open after a particularly long period of closure.
“See you at the bar!”
Chickpea Group currently operates eight pubs, all in Wiltshire, with another planned in Somerset.
