A charity golf day has been hailed as a great success after raising more than £19,000 for Forest Holme Hospice in Poole.

Held on one of the hottest days of the year so far, a total of 164 golfers took part in the event which was organised by Simplify Consulting and sponsored by Rodford Engineering.

They included professional dancer Kai Widdrington from Strictly Come Dancing as well as a number of golf pros.

Paul Coyte, breakfast time broadcaster on TalkSPORT, hosted the day at Bramshaw Golf Club in the New Forest.

It included a Beat the Pro game, raffle and auction of sporting prizes including a signed Ronnie O’Sullivan snooker cue and premium hospitality tickets to a Premier League game at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

Simplify Consulting offers practitioner-led consultancy services.

The Southampton-based firm has chosen Forest Holme Hospice as its Charity of the Year to support its life-enhancing work and help ensure vital services are there for local people, and their families, at the most difficult time of their lives.

Kate Monserrate and Carl Woodward, pictured left, Co-Founders and Directors at Simplify Consulting, said, “We are always amazed at the generosity and kindness shown by each and every golfer in supporting our day and for this year helping us to raise an amazing amount for Forest Holme Hospice Charity.

“We’d like to thank all of our sponsors for once again supporting this event.

“We have been overwhelmed this year with the generosity shown from businesses of all shapes and sizes committing to supporting our day and our charity.”

Forest Holme Hospice provides palliative and end-of-life care and support to more than 1,500 people each year with advanced cancer and other life-limiting illnesses across Poole, Wimborne and the Isle of Purbeck.

However, due to an increase in patient referrals of over 40 per cent year on year, the charity now needs to raise at least £1 million annually to ensure these services help to meet the ever-growing need within the local community.

Hannah O’Hare, pictured left, Development Manager at Forest Holme Hospice, said: “The money raised will help to make our patient’s final hours, days and weeks of life as comfortable and as pain free as possible.

“We simply couldn’t do what we do without the support of local businesses such as Simplify Consulting.

“We feel incredibly grateful to have the support of such a brilliant company.”
