University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) NHS Charity is celebrating an early milestone in its efforts to raise funds for crucial upgrades at Royal Bournemouth Hospital’s BEACH Building.
The BEACH Appeal has now broken the £500,000 barrier, with a target goal of £1.5 million.
Funds will go towards an additional CT scanner at the future emergency department; educational resources for children receiving treatment at the hospital; an outdoor space for patients; NHS staff on the critical care unit; and more.
Jessica Tyler, fundraising manager for UHD NHS Charity, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to reach this fantastic £500,000 milestone just seven months after launching The BEACH Appeal.
“The support from our community groups, individuals, charitable trusts and local businesses has been truly inspiring.
“It demonstrates our community’s commitment to supporting the NHS services at University Hospitals Dorset which care for our loved ones.
“However, we still have a long journey ahead to reach our £1.5 million target.
“With your ongoing support, we can turn our vision of creating a brighter future for those who will come through the doors of the new BEACH Building into a reality.”
Local station Hot Radio, Poole Town Football Club and the Poole Centenary Club have all chipped in with fundraising events, while this year’s Christchurch Christmas Lights Switch On is also expected to raise good money for the appeal.
UHD NHS Charity is now inviting local people to take part in its 10K Step Challenge and sign up for the Elf Dash on Sunday 8 December to help fundraising efforts.
