The Leonardo Trust, an independent charity supporting unpaid carers across Dorset, has moved into new offices at 1 Albany Business Park in Poole.

Formerly occupied by the British Red Cross, the single-storey, semi-detached premises span 2,500 sq ft and came with a quoting price of £350,000.

The sale was conducted by commercial estate agents Goadsby.

James Edwards, director at Goadsby, said: “We were delighted to have acted on behalf of the British Red Cross, and it’s particularly pleasing that we managed to secure a sale to a local charity.”

The Leonardo Trust was founded in 2001 by former carer Anne van Brussel in memory of her husband Leo.

Nowadays, the charity is governed by an experienced board of trustees and has supported many thousands of carers.

Donna Blanche, chief executive of The Leonardo Trust, said: “Our team work incredibly hard to help hundreds of carers each year.

“We can provide funding for crisis awards, counselling, short breaks, domestic appliances, alert lines and key safes, benefits advice and funding for carer groups.

“We’d outgrown our offices in Broadstone, and we’re delighted to be the new owners of Unit 1 at Albany Business Park, which will become our new head office and provide excellent accommodation to host carer groups and events.”
