Law firm trio get on their bikes for a great cause

Coles Miller Solicitors is sponsoring the annual Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride for the fourth year running – with three of the team joining the fundraising cyclists.

The Dorset law firm has been backing the popular annual ride since 2019.

This year Coles Miller will donate more than £1,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support through its sponsorship.

Managing Partner Neil Andrews, Associate Solicitor Laura Hall and Marketing Director Nick Balchin will all be riding 48 miles.

The July 2 event will start and finish at Corfe Mullen Recreation Ground in Badbury View Road.

This year’s ride will be the seventh for Neil, head of the Commercial Department and Business Property Law at Coles Miller.

Residential conveyancing solicitor Laura is a keen cyclist who has ridden the Macmillan event four times already.

Triathlete Nick will be taking part in the Macmillan ride for the second year running.

In May he completed the tenth annual 100-mile RideLondon, an Olympic legacy event – and this month he rode 200 miles from London to Paris.

All three Coles Miller riders have special reasons for supporting Macmillan, having lost loved ones to cancer.

The Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride was founded in 1989 by Peter Smith-Nicholls after his fundraising ride from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

Since then, the annual event has raised more than £1.5 million.

This year’s ride will be the 35th of its kind and organisers hope it will raise more than £35,000.

Sunseeker International has been the official sponsor of the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride since 2006.

Mauveworx shortlisted for top creative industry award

A Ferndown company has been shortlisted in the print category of The Drum Roses Awards 2023.

Working alongside its long-term customer, Krispy Kreme UK & IRE, Mauveworx came up with creative in-store display concepts to increase sales as part of a Valentine’s Day campaign.

The eye-catching cardboard free-standing display unit (FSDU) was placed in Asda stores, complementing the permanent Krispy Kreme cabinet and designed to grab shoppers’ attention.

The company’s MauvePrint 3DE cardboard engineering team then worked on the structural 3D shape, and made sure it fitted the 12-packs of doughnuts and displayed them in the best way.

The displays were then produced, with all print and finishing done in-house.

Ed Jones, Head of Marketing at Krispy Kreme, said: “From ideas through to delivery, Mauveworx helped us to create a real showstopper of an FSDU to successfully increase sales of our Valentine’s Day range of doughnuts in supermarkets.

“The standout design maximised merchandising space and led to increased engagement with shoppers, increasing impulse buys in-the-moment.”

Steve Eaton, Head of Creative at Mauveworx, said: “We always enjoy collaborating with Krispy Kreme.

“Their campaigns are always full of fun and life, and this year’s Valentine’s Day creative was no exception.

“The end result is something the Mauveworx team are proud to showcase as an example of what’s achievable with a client that’s committed to innovative ideas and fresh thinking.”

The Drum Roses Awards are designed to celebrate the best creative work outside of London.

They are judged on the criteria of being fresh, impactful, polished and effective.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Manchester on June 29.
