Businesses thanked for their support after coming up trumps for RNLI
Businesses have been thanked by the Christchurch and Bournemouth RNLI Branch for their part in the weekend’s Christchurch Carnival.
The much-loved event roared back to its pre-Covid best with a busy day of fun and entertainment on the Christchurch Quomps.
It was followed the next afternoon by the popular parade from Two Riversmeet to the Quomps, via Bridge Street and the High Street.
Christchurch and Bournemouth RNLI Branch had been asked by the Carnival Committee if it could provide a lifeboat for the parade.
It came up trumps with a quarter size representation of the Shannon lifeboat, safely secured on a flat truck which was generously loaned by Dan Edmunds of Southbourne-based building company, Your Space Construction.
Another local businessman, Matt Thomas of Platinum Gas & Heating Ltd, sponsored the RNLI stall and gave up his time to help out.
Other businesses supporting the RNLI, through sponsorship, putting on events or donating time or money, include:
David Richmond-Coggan, Branch Chairman, pictured right, said: “We are very grateful to these businesses, and all the others who are supporting our fundraising activities.
“All the funds we raise go to support the RNLI Lifeguards on the beautiful beaches of Bournemouth Bay, helping to keep them safe for us and our visitors during the busy summer months.”

A Bournemouth-based interior designer has been shortlisted for a SBID International Design Award but the result now rests with you!
Nykke Jones Interiors is a finalist in the ‘Residential House Over £1m’ category in the Interior Design Awards section for Rook Hill in Dorset.
The Society of British and International Interior Design (SBID) is the leading British professional member organisation for interior designers.
It was founded in 2009 by Dr Vanessa Brady OBE to serve, promote and protect the profession of interior design in the UK.
Success in the SBID International Design Awards is regarded as demonstrating the highest level of design excellence across the commercial and residential sectors.
Each finalist is evaluated by industry-leading experts for functionality, technical merit, creative delivery and ability to inspire.
The final stage of the judging process includes a public vote which accounts for 30 per cent of the marks.

Former High Sheriff becomes a Patron at Lewis-Manning Hospice Care
Michael Dooley , the former High Sheriff of Dorset, has become a Patron of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.
Clare Gallie, CEO, said: “He’s been a wonderful support to us over the last 18 months, for which we are hugely grateful.
“Michael’s interest in our work and valued inputs have been gratefully received in a time of major development for our charity.”
Michael, pictured left, a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, said: “I am thrilled to continue my journey in supporting Lewis-Manning and to be able to help them spread the word about their fantastic services across East Dorset and Purbeck.
“My maiden official visit as High Sheriff, back in 2021, was actually to the hospice.
“During my time in office. I was honoured and delighted to attend a number of celebratory events, meet staff, volunteers and supporters.
“I was always incredibly impressed with all that I saw and learnt on my visits.
“The hospice is doing such amazing work for the patients and families that it supports with life-limiting illnesses in the local community.
“I am hoping that I can offer guidance and support to further their clinical and organisation strategy, as well as raise awareness of Lewis-Manning, to encourage additional fundraising for this incredible charity.”
