Amazon has delivered for Poole Hospital with patients benefiting from a £1,000 donation.

The company donated the money as part of its ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme which supports communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Poole Hospital has used the donation to pay for devices allowing patients to keep in touch with their loved ones while in hospital.

Lee Taylor, Delivery Station Manager at Amazon Bournemouth, said: “The amazing staff and volunteers at Poole Hospital go above and beyond to care for their patients.

“We are proud to make this donation to Poole Hospital and we thank them for their invaluable service.”

Sara Fripp, Fundraising Manager, Poole Hospital Charity, pictured left, thanked Lee and the team at Amazon Bournemouth for the donation.

She added: “The money will enable us to continue to provide our first-class clinical services and patient-centred care, particularly supporting our patients with the restrictions resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during Covid-19.

It has joined a coalition of companies, universities, and research institutions to boost testing capacity for Covid-19.

Amazon’s logistics network, along with Royal Mail, will deliver test kits to critical workers and diagnostic sites set up around the UK.

It is also providing free online STEM resources to students in lower-income communities and is working with charity partner Magic Breakfast to ensure they can continue to provide free breakfast provisions to children in disadvantaged areas.

Amazon has created more than 70 permanent jobs at its delivery station in Bournemouth.

It works with around five independent delivery companies with more than 200 drivers.

Packages are shipped to the delivery station from Amazon fulfilment and sorting centres and then loaded onto vehicles for delivery to customers.
