Bourne Group donates phones to BCHA charity

Forty mobile phones have been donated by the Bourne Charity Trust to BCHA, the charitable housing trust.

Bourne Group’s employee mobile phones are being re-homed and distributed to people who are now housed safely in BCHA accommodation.

They will enable them to stay in contact with their family, friends and support workers and to access online advice and information.

Bourne Group Ltd is a construction and engineering company, with its headquarters in Poole.

It includes Bourne Steel, Bourne Rail and Special Projects, Bourne Parking, Bourne Nuclear and Bourne Off-site Solutions.

BCHA is a major provider of a diverse range of housing, support, learning and employability services for disadvantaged people across the South West, from Bournemouth to Exeter.

Daryl Gibbins, BCHA’s Business Support Services Manager said: “We are extremely grateful for this donation by Bourne Group Ltd.

“Bourne Group’s phones are already being passed on to our customers who need them, along with BCHA-funded SIM cards.

“This generous and much appreciated resource is another step towards them being able to lead safe, settled and secure lives.”

Bourne Group HR Director, Clare Clayton, said: “When our new company phones arrived, we wanted to make good use of our old handsets so, through the Bourne Charity Trust, it was proposed that they be used to help people experiencing homelessness.

“BCHA is well-respected for its work in supporting disadvantaged people and we are thrilled to hear that some of its customers are already receiving and using our phones to keep them connected and in touch with their much-needed support systems.”

Hendy Group makes potentially life-saving defibrillator investment

Potentially life-saving defibrillators have been installed at 60 Hendy Group sites across the South and South West including Dorset.

The automotive group says it demonstrates how the health and well-being of colleagues and customers is its top priority.

The company has invested £36,000 in the defibrillators.

John Hendy, Property Manager, said the widespread installation across all sites was a sensible precaution for the company to protect everyone who comes into physical contact with the business.

The arrival of the defibrillators comes at a time when there are more than 30,000 sudden cardiac arrests in the UK outside hospital every year.

Immediate treatment of someone suffering from a sudden cardiac arrest boosts survival rates dramatically.

Without immediate assistance the survival rate is less than six per cent but with prompt attention this can rise to 70 per cent.

The availability of an AED (automated external defibrillator) increases the chances of survival.

John, pictured, said: “Colleague welfare is a huge priority for us at Hendy so anything we can do to protect them in a working environment where they spend a lot of time is important.

“We hope that none of these defibrillators are never needed but by having them in our facilities we know that anyone in need will have the best treatment available immediately.”

Defibrillators are being installed in a central position in all dealerships and facilities to enable a swift response for anyone in need.

The installation process has included training videos for colleagues and posters highlighting where they are positioned.

CHS grow team with innovation in Web3 and the metaverse

Full service creative agency CHS has appointed Max Ladhu to the role of ‘Innovation Creative’ in its team.

Entirely new to the agency, the role aims to explore the part Web3 will play in marketing and advertising in the years to come and create new technologies to support it.

Max, pictured, will be exploring how the CHS client roster can adapt its marketing strategies to better the ways it can interact with consumers.

Advancements like the blockchain, augmented reality (AR), and NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens) will provide new platforms for brands to create unique and memorable experiences for their customers.

The technology can be used to encourage conversations, engage consumers and visualise products in a way that hasn’t been accessible in the past.

Brands can now shape the virtual world around a brand ethos while meeting the consumer’s needs through a fully unique and personalised experience.

Chris Southgate, pictured left, Managing Director of CHS, said: “Industries like ours never stand still, and whilst most agencies are yet to explore this direction – we’re making it a priority.

“The metaverse, blockchain and NFTs are all things we might not know much about today but know they’ll be pivotal to all our lives in just a few short years.

“The appointment of this role not only ensures we stay ahead of the curve as an agency, but that our client’s brands and campaigns do too.”

Christchurch-based CHS employs more than 70 people.
