Win on Waste to mark tenth birthday with bid to raise £10k
A Dorset-based waste and recycling charity has announced an ambitious fundraising target to mark its tenth birthday this year.
Win on Waste is hoping to raise £10,000 in its 10 months – 10 years – 10k initiative.
It is asking local businesses and individuals for their support in achieving the goal.
Win on Waste was founded as Ideas2Action in October 2013 and undertook a wide range of projects with a local focus.
The Win on Waste project, dealing with hard-to-recycle waste, began in 2014.
It struck such a chord in the community that it was decided to change the name of the charity to Win on Waste and focus full-time on local environmental issues.
The charity works across East Dorset and provides nine volunteer-led local collection hubs each month.
They allow people to bring along a range of hard-to-recycle waste which is then distributed to local and national charities that make use of the waste for fundraising and project work.
The success of initiatives like the Win on Waste project underscores the growing awareness and commitment to addressing waste management challenges within communities.
As such, there has been a surge in demand for efficient waste removal solutions that cater to diverse needs and environmental considerations.
Dumpster Rentals have emerged as a popular choice for individuals and organizations seeking convenient and customizable waste disposal options. These rental services offer a range of container sizes to accommodate varying volumes of waste, ensuring flexibility and cost-effectiveness in waste management practices.
As Win on Waste continues to make strides in waste management, collaborating with local businesses for initiatives like the cheapest skip hire Liverpool can ensure that the community’s commitment to environmental stewardship is both practical and effective.
Through partnerships, education, and grassroots advocacy, Win on Waste can continue to pave the way for meaningful change, proving that even the smallest efforts can yield significant results in the fight against waste and pollution.
The Win on Waste project truly turns ‘trash into treasure’ to help 20 good causes.
Win on Waste welcomed over 4,000 local households to its services last year and dealt with over three tonnes of waste.
Much of the wate would have otherwise have ended up in landfill.
Ways to support Win on Waste include visiting one of its sessions, making a monetary donation or becoming a Win on Waste volunteer.

Twelve employers commit to becoming Disability Confident Leaders
Twelve employers have signed up to a year-long project aimed at achieving ‘Leader’ status within the government’s Disability Confident scheme.
They range from Julia’s House children’s hospice and microbrewery Brewhouse and Kitchen to motors manufacturer Parvalux and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
Face to face training sessions are now taking place as part of Dorset Careers Hub’s Removing Barriers project.
The aim is to educate businesses on how best to support young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Andrew Holland, pictured left, Director of sendme2work, is running the project in partnership with Dorset Careers Hub.
He said: “When we first launched the project back in October 2022, we were looking for ten local companies to sign up to the scheme.
“We’ve surpassed that goal now and I’m delighted to say that we now have 12 organisations on board.
“Each one is keen to learn and adapt their workplace in order to attract and nurture a diverse and inclusive workforce.”
The diverse group of employers also includes Bournemouth’s Marsham Court Hotel, Weymouth College and catering and hospitality provider, The CRUMBS Project.
The government’s Disability Confident scheme has three levels.
While 150 employers are signed up to the scheme in Dorset, only three are in the Leader top tier.
Removing Barriers has been devised to address this and nurture more companies to reach the level three Leader status.
Rebecca Phillips, pictured right, Dorset Careers Hub Strategic Lead, said: “It’s amazing to see these wonderful companies in Dorset committing to this much-needed and hugely exciting programme.
“It is scalable, sustainable and provides highly tangible results.”
