Bournemouth and Poole College has agreed a partnership with British yacht manufacturer Oyster Yachts.

The partnership, which the college expects to increase the learning opportunities for student apprentices studying at the college, will bring together Oyster Yachts and its recognised reputation for delivering apprenticeships with Bournemouth and Poole College’s commitment to developing local employability skills and providing a clear career path for the next generation.

Ten apprentices have been enrolled in the first year of this partnership, and during the next four years they will undertake extensive training to complete a Marine Electrical Level 3, Marine Engineering Level 3 or a Boat Building Level 3 Apprenticeship.

Natalie Fox, Group HR Director at Oyster Yachts, said: “Apprenticeships are a very important initiative for us.

“We are passionate about growing our own talent and ensuring we help develop and nurture skilled craftspeople for the marine industry.

“We are thrilled to form this new relationship with Bournemouth and Poole College as our training partner.

“By bringing the strengths of both the College and Oyster Yachts together, I am confident that we can provide a great learning environment for apprentices and continue to develop local skills for the marine sector.”

Phil Sayles, Principal at Bournemouth and Poole College, added: “Oyster Yachts is renowned as a prestigious British yacht builder, and we are very excited to welcome the brand to the College’s 2000-strong employer partner portfolio.

“This strategic partnership will be beneficial to all, helping to create a clear career pathway for many future apprentices.

“We are looking forward to working alongside Oyster Yachts to offer fantastic opportunities to our community.”
