A long-standing physiotherapy business in Poole and Bournemouth has been purchased by an expanding London-based private physiotherapy company.

Six Physio’s acquisition of BWT Physio is its third this year and first in the South West.

Founded more than 35 years ago, BWT Physio has locations in Parkstone and also The West Hants Club in Bournemouth.

Six Physio now has 14 clinics in London, Sussex and the South West and employs over 145 physiotherapists, specialists, clinical directors and support staff.

In 2022, it was acquired by Ascenti, an independent provider of physiotherapy and mental wellbeing services and a partner to 14 NHS integrated care boards (ICBs), all major UK private medical insurance (PMI) providers and over 400 businesses.

As well as physiotherapy services Six Physio offers specialist services including Women’s and Men’s Health Physio, Sports and Performance Physio, Shockwave Therapy and machine-based Pilates.

Rupert Crowfoot, CEO at Six Physio, said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome the BWT Physio team to the Six family.

“It’s a thriving practice with a great local reputation and a large and experienced clinical and support team, across two clinics serving the residents of Poole and Bournemouth.

“This is another exciting step in our plans to deliver more great physio to more people in more places, and what I hope will be the start of more clinics out of town alongside our existing clinic in Lindfield, Sussex.”

Debbie Martin, Founder and Director of BWT Physio, said: “We are very excited and thrilled to become part of the Six family.

“The specialisms developed at BWT Physio will be enhanced with the impact of Six Physio’s vision of bringing exceptional services to more people.

“We look forward to maintaining our high quality of care, excellent levels of communication and fantastic patient satisfaction with our personalised, people-centred approach.”
