An art exhibition featuring work by accomplished water colourist Mike Jeffries has opened at Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts.

The exhibition runs until June 21, during opening hours.

All proceeds from painting sales are being split equally between Lewis-Manning Hospice Care and Lighthouse, Poole.

Mike and his wife, Pam, are both Patrons of the hospice and Mike is a former Chairman of Poole Arts Trust.

A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and having trained as an architect, he started by painting architectural subjects and street scenes.

Mike moved from London to Poole some 20 years ago and branched out into other areas including marine painting and landscapes.

He travels overseas extensively and often paints scenes associated with his travels, as well as London and local subjects.

His paintings now hang in homes around the world, including Australia, North America and Europe, as well as the UK.

Mike said “Finding a subject is more complicated than you might think so I take lots of photos and sketches and maybe only one or two end up being painted.

“Some scenes I’ve painted several times because I just enjoy them so much and there are several local views in this exhibition, as well as scenes from London, Europe and other places.

“My wife and I are delighted to offer our support to two causes that are very close to our hearts.”

A pre-exhibition opening VIP event was hosted by Mike and Pam with supporters of both Lewis-Manning and Lighthouse, Poole, invited.

Peter Harding Wealth Management sponsored the art exhibition and presented a cheque for £2,500 to Lewis-Manning.
