It wasn’t just England’s opening game in the World Cup that got off to a dream start with a 6-2 win against Iran.

A charity screening also scored by raising almost £3,000 to help support young carers in Dorset.

Frettens Solicitors teamed up with AFC Bournemouth to stage the event.

Both have chosen MYTIME Young Carers as their Charity of the Year.

The screening, at AFC Bournemouth’s Balfour Suite, was supported by clients as well as local businesses and friends.

Guests enjoyed a buffet and drinks provided by AFC Bournemouth with all money raised through tickets and a raffle going to MYTIME.

Lewis Barr, Marketing & Commercial Director at Frettens Solicitors, pictured left, said: “We were thrilled that over 100 of our clients and connections showed up on a rainy day to help support MYTIME Young Carers, who are the Charity of the Year for both Frettens and AFCB.

“The money raised will help deliver their fantastic ‘Operation Christmas’ initiative for young carers in Dorset.

“Huge thanks to everyone who came along, and especially to AFC Bournemouth for their hospitality, which was excellent as ever.”

Rob Mitchell, Commercial Director, AFC Bournemouth, pictured right, added: “It was brilliant to host the World Cup screening event here and see so many familiar faces.

“MYTIME do some great work and it was superb to welcome their carers to the stadium for the afternoon.

“We’re grateful to Frettens Solicitors for their support in hosting the event, which was a huge success all round.

Tim Sills, MYTIME’s Corporate Partnership Executive, pictured above, who also acted as Quizmaster, said: “Everyone at MYTIME Young Carers was blown away by the incredible effort and organisation that went into putting on such a memorable event in aid of MYTIME to watch England’s first World Cup game in Qatar.

“We can’t thank our charity partners, Frettens Solicitors and AFC Bournemouth, enough.

“It was an electric atmosphere, full of cheer, friendship and laughter, which mirror some of the important aspects we try to bring to young carers’ lives throughout Dorset.

“With such a fantastic total of almost £3,000 raised, this will go a long way to helping us achieve a part of that.”
