Lester Aldridge has been named South West regional winner of the Workforce Developer category at the British Chambers of Commerce Business Awards.

The Bournemouth-based law firm is now up against ten other regional winners in the category for the national title.

The Workforce Developer – Commitment to People Award is presented to a business that has shown how its approach to the learning and development of its team has enhanced its business performance.

The award recognises the emphasis and commitment that Lester Aldridge places on staff development.

The Chamber Business Awards are regarded as one of the UK’s most contested and prestigious business award programmes, recognising and promoting the best of British business through a series of regional heats.

National winners are due to be announced within the next few weeks with the eight category winners honoured at the closing of the London Stock Exchange on December 1 when the Winner of Winners will be announced.

With origins in Dorset dating back to 1796, Lester Aldridge now has offices in Bournemouth, Southampton and London advising businesses and individuals regionally, nationally and internationally.

Many of its current partners trained as solicitors with the firm.

Current Managing Partner, Matthew Barrow, and Chair, Suki Samra, both started as graduate trainees at the firm straight from university.

Other partners developed from joining the firm in administration roles.

Matthew said: “I am delighted that Lester Aldridge has been honoured with such a prestigious award.

“We are dedicated to developing our people to reach their full potential regardless of their role or office.

“I am proud to see the number of people progressing and being promoted within the firm including our 20 trainee solicitors and six graduate solicitor apprentices.

“Focusing on our people ensures we grow as a business and can continue to deliver an excellent service to our clients.”

Ian Girling, pictured left, Chief Executive of Dorset Chamber, said: “I am delighted to congratulate Lester Aldridge on winning this award.

“As a workplace developer, it is fantastic to see a continuing commitment to their people in an ever-changing business environment.”
