It’s the world’s biggest dog show and a Dorset raw pet food business is going to be there in force.

Nurturing by Nature is exhibiting at Crufts for the first time in its 18-year history.

A ten-strong team will be manning the company’s impressive stand from 8.15am to 6.30pm for the four days of the show from Thursday March 10 to Sunday March 13.

They come from all parts of the business including despatch, customer service and its shops.

It’s a significant investment for Nurturing by Nature but, said Adam Morris, Managing Director, pictured left, a real statement of intent.

He said: “It’s the biggest dog show in the world and what better way to announce ourselves?

“We believe in what we do and the absolute quality and integrity of our product.

“Now it’s a case of getting our name out to the biggest possible audience – and Crufts is the place to do it.”

It was Nettie Platt’s vision and hard work which led to a raw feeding ‘revolution’ as well as the creation of a business with annual sales of £2m+ and employing more than 30 people.

Nurturing by Nature began life in Nettie’s kitchen in 2004.

It was founded after her red boxer, Fred, developed cancer.

The answer was a raw food diet with Fred’s quality of life showing a visible improvement.

The business moved from Nettie’s kitchen to a conservatory and then garage before the opening of the West Moors store, the country’s first dedicated raw pet food shop.

Nurturing by Nature now has another retail shop in Upton, two factory units in Upton and a nationwide, next day delivery service as well as a thriving online business.

In 2020 it opened a 38,000 kg capacity meat freezer, increasing the capacity of the business by up to 50 per cent.

Nurturing by Nature aims to give domestic pets – both cats and dogs – a diet which is more akin to what they would eat if they were fending for themselves in the wild.

It works with farmers and suppliers to ensure meat products are the best quality, using human-grade ingredients, sourced from trusted farms in the UK.

Adam is married to Nettie’s daughter, Emma, a fellow Director.

He said: “We’ve got an amazing team and the energy running through the business is incredible.

“Crufts is a really big moment for us.”

Stephen Dann, pictured left, a business growth specialist who has been advising Nurturing by Nature since last July, said: “There is so much depth and genuine authenticity to this company.

“It has been built on very strong foundations.

“We started talking about Crufts in January.

“Without doubt, this is the next big step.”
