‘We may have a new name but it’s still the same team with the same knowledge, the same expertise and the same high-quality of service.’

The message from specialist retail marine insurance broker, Coleman Marine, which is to rebrand as Gallagher – the name of its parent group – from May 30.

It comes three years after Coleman Marine became part of Gallagher following the insurance giant’s acquisition of Stackhouse Poland.

Based in offices on Poole Quay, the Coleman Marine team provides specialist risk management advice and insurance across a range of marine classes including yacht & motorboat, superyacht, marine trade & cargo and commercial craft.

Currently numbering 21 team members, but looking to attract further talent, the company’s clients range from small privately owned vessels up to a number of the top 100 superyachts in the world.

Its reach extends from the UK to the Mediterranean and beyond.

While Coleman Marine has been in existence for over 20 years, the Coleman brand itself is steeped in heritage and has been based in Poole for more than a century.

The company stresses clients will continue to have the same day-to-day contacts at the firm, who understand their individual insurance requirements.

They’ll also benefit from the scale of Gallagher, giving access to a larger suite of insurance products and services and its expertise across 39,000 global employees.

Steve Risk, Regional Managing Director of the South West in Gallagher’s UK Retail business, said: “The boating sector, and in particular the popularity of leisure boating, has grown over the past few years, with the most recent figures showing purchases of leisure boats are up nine per cent year-on-year.

“As a leading specialist insurance broker in this market, this growth provides us with a springboard to expand our business further.

“We are very pleased to rebrand as having the team operating under a leading global insurance brand will enable us to capitalise on the investment in the Gallagher brand at both a UK and global level.

“Clients can be reassured that our existing team remains in place and they will continue to receive the same high-quality service from the individuals they know that understand their insurance needs and provide in-depth marine insurance knowledge, expertise and service.”

Speaking to Dorset Biz News, Steve said Coleman Marine had experienced two exceptional years with combined growth of 25 per cent.

“We’re excited about the future,” he added.

Gallagher is the brand name of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.

The global insurance broker, risk management services and consulting firm has its headquarters in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, USA.

In the UK, Gallagher has more than 6,000 employees specialising in risk management, and insurance solutions, for corporate, commercial and personal customers.

Across the world, Gallagher has operations in 68 countries but offers client service capabilities in more than 150 countries through a network of correspondent brokers and consultants.
