A cannon and musket salute from the Pirates of Poole will welcome the tallship Galeon Andalucia when she arrives in Poole on Tuesday July 30.

The authentic replica of a 17th-century Spanish galleon is due to enter the harbour at approximately 11.30am.

The vessel, known for her historical significance and craftsmanship, will be open for public tours from Wednesday July 31.

Poole BID is sponsoring the arrival of Galeon Andalucia, a faithful reconstruction of the iconic ships that once sailed the high seas during Spain’s Golden Age of Exploration.

With her towering masts, intricate rigging and rich wooden interior, the vessel allows visitors to step back in time and experience maritime history.

Built by the Nao Victoria Foundation at the Punta Umbria shipyard in Spain, the tallship has sailed over 70,000 nautical miles across the world’s oceans, participating in numerous cultural projects and engaging thousands of visitors at ports spanning four continents.

Captain Brian March, of Pirates of Poole, said: “We are excited to welcome the Galeon Andalucia to our historic harbour.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity for the community and visitors to explore a piece of maritime history from the bygone era.”

Tickets to visit the tallship are available here.
