The CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has hailed the response to the launch of flights and holidays from Bournemouth Airport as “truly phenomenal”.

Exactly a month after announcing Bournemouth as its 12th UK airport base, Steve Heapy said customers and independent travel agents had been booking flights and holidays in their droves.

On March 26, the UK’s largest tour operator and third largest airline confirmed that 16 destinations across Europe, the Canary Islands, and the Mediterranean from Bournemouth Airport had gone on sale for summer 2025.

Since then thousands of holidaymakers have booked flights and holidays.

The top five performing destinations from Bournemouth Airport are Antalya, Tenerife, Dalaman, Majorca and Rhodes.

In their first summer of operations from Bournemouth Airport, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will operate up to 27 weekly flights.

They include multiple weekly flights to popular destinations across the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, Turkey and Greece as well as services to hotspots such as mainland Spain, Portugal and Madeira.

Two destinations – Fuerteventura and Madeira – are exclusive from Bournemouth Airport.

The inaugural flight from the airport will depart to Tenerife on April 1, 2025.

In summer 2025, two Bournemouth-based aircraft will fly holidaymakers from Bournemouth Airport on their package holidays with Jet2holidays and leisure flights with Jet2.com.

Their arrival at Bournemouth Airport has also resulted in more than 100 new jobs being created initially.

Positions are available across flight deck, cabin crew, engineering, and ground operations.

Mr Heapy, pictured right, said: “We know that customers and independent travel agents had been waiting keenly for us to make this move, and the reaction to the launch has reflected this.

“From day one, and over the last four weeks, the response to our award-winning flights and holidays going on sale from Bournemouth Airport has been truly phenomenal, and we are delighted at how well the launch has been received.

“Customers and independent travel agents are clearly relishing the chance to book our award-winning flights and holidays.

“Since launching one month ago, we saw an immediate surge in bookings from Bournemouth Airport, and that demand shows no sign of slowing down.

“Between now and 1st April 2025, when our first flight departs from Bournemouth Airport, we are focusing relentlessly on getting everything ready, so we can delight customers with our award-winning service and showcase just why we are the leading leisure airline and UK’s largest tour operator.”
