South Western Vehicle Auctions (SWVA) is soon to hold its latest event – 12 months on from a move to larger premises in Holton Heath.

The new site has enabled the business to hold larger consignments – including its popular classic vehicle auctions – with lots showcased and stored in its indoor, heated auction hall.

Tomorrow is the Winter Classic Auction, featuring more than 60 classics and collectibles to attract buyers from across the UK.

Among the lots are two vehicles that have starred on TV and the silver screen, including a 100-year-old Model T Ford – the world’s first mass-produced motorcar.

This fully restored model, finished in factory black with a black leather interior, has been seen on TV in Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge, as well as films including Fantastic Beasts, Wicked Little Letters, and the soon-to-be-released 7 Dials based on Agatha Christie’s novel.

There’s also a blue 1952 Morris LC3 van which featured in The Great Train Robbery as the getaway van used by the villains to move the first mail sacks during their infamous heist.

Originally used as a service vehicle for the RAF, it’s the only vehicle in Great Britain to bear a Post Office-approved Queen’s Crest without being an official Post Office van and appeared as such in the popular series All Creatures Great and Small.

Owen ShepherdOwen Shepherd, classics specialist at SWVA, said: “All our auctions, including the classics continue to go from strength to strength.

“We have an eclectic mix of vehicles in our winter sale, ranging from these two with cinematic history, to popular collectors cars including a stunning 1964 Triumph TR4 ‘Surrey Top’, a 1934 Morris Tourer, 1961 Austin-Healey ‘Frogeye’ Sprite, and more modern day collectibles such as a limited edition Volkswagen Corrado VR6 Storm and a rare and sought after Citroen CX 25 GTI Turbo 2.”

The classics auction takes place at 10am tomorrow – Thursday 30 January – at SWVA’s premises in Holton Heath.
