Bridge Health & Wellbeing welcomes new physiotherapist
Family-run clinic Bridge Health & Wellbeing in Christchurch has welcomed experienced physiotherapist Victoria McIntyre to its team.
Originally from Scotland, Victoria has a strong football background.
Before moving to England, she spent five years at Hamilton Academical Football Club, rising to Head of Physiotherapy.
Over the past five years, Victoria has been a physiotherapist at AFC Bournemouth and Arsenal FC and lectured at Solent University.
She is a committee member of the Football Medicine & Performance Association.

“She brings a real wealth of knowledge to our clinic.
“Victoria can treat all musculoskeletal issues but has a special interest in breathing and its effect on performance.
“Her football expertise will be useful to the players from Weymouth Football Club that will be visiting us for treatment as part of our health and wellbeing partnership.”

Dorset Mind to launch monthly eating disorder drop-in service
Dorset Mind is to deliver a monthly drop-in service at Bournemouth University from next week.
It will provide unbiased, non-judgmental support to students affected by eating disorders and other eating related issues.
The mental health charity will reinforce the message that recovery is possible from eating disorders with early intervention and appropriate support.
The service will complement the range of wellbeing services already offered for BU students.
Dorset Mind currently provides one-to-one mentoring services and a recovery group for people who experience anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating disorder and other specified feeding or any disordered eating, under the name ‘Restored.’
It comprises professionals who have experience of eating disorders.
Heading up the new programme, and hosting the drop-in service, is Restored’s Senior Support Worker, Romy Simpkins.
The launch of the new service comes just ahead of Eating Disorder Awareness Week, which runs from February 28 to March 6 and is led by eating disorder specialist charity, BEAT.
Dr Andrew Mayers, Patron at Dorset Mind and Principal Academic at Bournemouth University, pictured left, said: “Young people are especially vulnerable to eating disorders.
“In this partnership between Bournemouth University and Dorset Mind, I truly hope that we can reduce distress and help give the students the support they need.”
Linda O’Sullivan, CEO at Dorset Mind, pictured right, added: “Early intervention is crucial to successful treatment of eating disorders; however, research findings suggest that many people wait to seek help.
“It is imperative, therefore, we can provide a safe place that’s already part of their community, where they can go to seek help as soon as they feel they need it.”

Launch of new UK road trip quickly attracts travel businesses
A spectacular new driving route around the coastline of the South West peninsular is attracting immediate support from tourism and hospitality businesses.
Britain’s latest tourist roadtrip, South West 660, was launched within the last month.
It is designed to encourage visitors to explore the 660-mile coastline of Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.
The scheme, established by three Devon-based businessmen, has met with an enthusiastic commercial response.
Its business partners already include AA Media and St Austell Brewery.
Businesses that rely on the tourism pound are now being invited to sign up for prime advertising slots that remain available.
The route runs from Poole, around Devon and Cornwall to Watchet in Somerset.
It includes some of Britain’s most acclaimed scenery, smaller coastal roads and lesser-known sights.
The South West 660 is designed to encourage low season tourism, with visitors inspired to take their time and enjoy each of 12 expertly-curated routes highlighting hidden spots, quieter roads and local suppliers.
