It’s demanding, but fun, and places are still available – but don’t delay.
The tenth anniversary of the Hope Rising Trail Run takes place at the picturesque Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Centre at Bransgore on Saturday February 26.
With views described as breathtaking, the venue offers a challenging, yet enjoyable, course through a typical New Forest terrain.
The event consists of a 5km run (once around) and a 10km run (twice around).
There are medals and prizes for most categories and all finishers receive a medal as a memento.
You can also run with friends or work colleagues as a team at no extra cost.
The cross country run (or walk if you prefer) starts at 11am.
Registration is open at 09.30am for runners to collect their numbers and receipts and also register their team name and runners.
Full catering is also available on site from 09.30am.
The race is limited to 250 runners with numbers allocated on a first-come basis.
The entry fee is £15.
Organisers say the race can be demanding, if run seriously, but fun if the interest is in having a good cross country run in stunning surroundings.
Walking and enjoying the scenery is most definitely allowed, they add.
Mark Cooper, one of the main organisers, will be setting up the track the day before and taking it down afterwards.
He said: “This is the tenth anniversary of the race.
“We have a number of repeat runners who use it to assess their early season fitness.
“As one marathon runner once said to me: ‘How do you manage to make it three-quarters uphill?’
“We have approximately 150 places still available.”
Hope Rising is a registered charity formed to relieve poverty, further education, and advance the Christian faith.
It raises funds by organising various events such as the Trail Run.
