Beat the isolation of solo working this winter

Dates have been announced for two ‘Get It Done’ sessions for female small business owners.

Erin Thomas Wong, Founder of Life-Friendly Business, is hosting the monthly events at Urban Garden in Bournemouth.

The three hour slots are a balanced combination of co-working, networking and idea/problem-bouncing.

During the morning Erin, pictured left, is on hand to answer any questions, troubleshoot or chat through any challenges faced.

She said: “As the winter draws in, and the temperature drops, it can start to feel a bit isolating working from home.

“I wanted to create an opportunity for women to come together with a shared purpose in a warm and welcoming venue.

“Urban Gardens provides such a lovely atmosphere for these sessions in a great location.

“It’s great to be able to get together face-to-face again and help people in person.”

Erin is a mentor, helping women to build and scale businesses in a life-friendly way.

She is the host of The Life-Friendly Business Podcast, author of ‘Mumpreneur Evolution – On Our Terms’ and founder of The Cocoon Business Membership.

The sessions take place on November 17 and December 8.

Strategic Solutions complete a hat-trick of award wins in a month

Strategic Solutions Financial Services is celebrating a trio of award wins from leading financial bodies in the course of a month.

The Bournemouth-based chartered financial advisers were named Investment Adviser of the Year by Moneyfacts.

It was the second year running they won the award.

Strategic Solutions then went on to win Money Marketing Charity Champion of the Year.

The highly competitive award recognises how the company has actively made advice accessible to all of society and for its community involvement.

The company’s third award was for Small to Medium Sized Firm of the Year at the MoneyAge awards.

Nathan Harris, Partner, pictured left, said: “We could not be prouder to receive three separate awards within such a short time frame.

“These multi-award wins not only prove that our industry recognises the quality of our advisers but is validation for the tremendous hard work and dedication that our team are giving to their clients.”

Expect fireworks as Avonwood PTA stage second display!

Following the success of the inaugural Avonwood fireworks display last year, Avonwood PTA in Bournemouth is hosting another this month.

It’s on Saturday November 12 from 4.30pm to 8pm.

Organisers say this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever.

In addition to fireworks there will be children’s rides, tin can alley, striker test your strength, trampolines, a bouncy castle, assault course and face painting.

A selection of food and drink stalls will be available for everyone to enjoy along with a DJ.

This year there is also a new area – The Avonwood Lanes – featuring stalls with items to purchase.

Kimberley Alder, one of the parents organising the event, said: “It’s always great to help raise money for a local school.

“But when you can raise money whilst putting on a wonderful community event it makes it even more rewarding.”

The Fireworks Event is sponsored by chartered town planners Bell Cornwell.
