Sculpture by the Lakes sports a new look
Multi-award-winning Sculpture by the Lakes has launched a new look.
The attraction at Pallington, just east of Dorchester, has undergone a rebranding as well as a new website.
To more clearly distinguish between the ticketed element and the free to access areas, Sculpture by the Lakes is now in two parts – The Sculpture Park and The Makers Yard.
The Sculpture Park includes the extensive gardens, woodland and lake and riverside walks, dotted with more than 30 monumental and large-scale contemporary sculptures.
Entry is ticketed, at £14.50 per person.
The Makers Yard comprises The Gallery, The Kitchen, formerly known as Gallery by the Lakes and Café by the Lakes, and The Store and The Pantry, which were previously called Artisans’ Bazaar and the Artisans’ Pantry.
Entry to all these parts of Sculpture by the Lakes remains free of charge and requires no ticket purchasing or booking.
Simon Gudgeon, the internationally renowned Sculptor and Co-owner and Founder of Sculpture by the Lakes, pictured left, said: “Sculpture by the Lakes has grown so much over the years as we’ve developed new ideas and sought to expand upon and improve on what we have to offer our visitors.
“We felt it was time we took a step back to consider the whole and its parts together.
“Visitors were telling us that they were surprised at how much we had on offer or were expecting to pay to visit the gallery for example.
“We knew we needed to make it clearer and make sure it all made sense, not just to those people we welcome here on a regular basis, but to those discovering us for the first time.
“We love the new names, which are crisp, clear and simple.
“They both sit well alone and together and express perfectly the rich and varied experience on offer at Sculpture by the Lakes.”

Sculpture by the Lakes is open Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10am – 5pm during the winter.

Fond farewell to Citizens Advice volunteers after 40 years’ service
Citizens Advice in East Dorset & Purbeck has said a fond farewell to two long-serving volunteers.
Rosemary Lunt and Diann March have retired after a combined service of more than 40 years.
Rosemary, Research & Campaigns Coordinator, has been volunteering and working with Citizens Advice for over 20 years.
She joined in 1991 as a Volunteer Adviser at Wimborne Citizens Advice and was then employed at Dorchester Citizens Advice as a Deputy Manager and Tutor for 15 years.
Rosemary started volunteering at East Dorset Citizens Advice in 2015 where she worked in Research & Campaigns.
She said: “I’ve loved being part of Citizens Advice – a hub of knowledge and friendship.”
Diann has been the Chair of East Dorset Friends Fundraising Committee since 2005 and has been involved with Citizens Advice in different ways since 1984.
She said: “I now feel it’s time to hand over the fundraising reins to someone else.”

Creative design studio grows with new team member Stefan
Stefan Romer has become the newest member of the team at Poole-based The Garden Room.
He joins the creative design studio after studying horticulture at Kingston Maurward College in Dorchester and then completing a three year work placement at the five-star Chewton Glen.
Stefan, pictured, now manages The Garden Room’s aftercare portfolio as its main horticulturalist, alongside overseeing planting installations and bridging the gap between the studio and site.
The Garden Room was founded by partners in life and design Matt and Elle Evans.
Elle handles client’s interior enquiries, as well as coordinating the studio’s wedding, event styling and home staging service while Matt specialises in creating inspired garden landscapes.
