A partnership between Morebus and BCP Council is giving young people across the region access to a wider range of app tickets.
From Monday, 3rd June, under-19s can buy longer period passes for all of the operator’s fare zones – a move made possible by the Bus Service Improvement Plan.
“We have offered seven day tickets for some time, but tickets for longer periods have only been available for zone C. Following feedback, in particular from parents and guardians, we are introducing these new tickets for zone A and zone AB,” said Nikki Honer, Morebus head of communications.
“This is testament to our excellent working relationship with BCP Council, and the access we have to Bus Service Improvement Plan funding – allowing us to introduce these tickets via our app. They offer excellent value – with zone A unlimited travel being available for £2 per day or less.
“We think this is a great way to encourage young people across our region to opt for sustainable transport, and we expect their parents and guardians to welcome these latest additions.”
Cllr Andy Hadley, portfolio holder for Climate Response, Environment and Energy, BCP Council, added: ‘We are really pleased to have worked with Morebus on this great local initiative. This is great news for children and families with a host of other benefits too.
“It helps with keeping the buses on-time and will play a pivotal role in helping ease congestion because drivers no longer have to issue individual tickets at each stop.”
To access a child ticket in the app for the first time, users will need to complete a one-off verification process before the ticket is activated. Parents and guardians can buy the tickets via Morebus’ app or website – and choose the option to gift the ticket to someone else. Each person will require their own app account.
